Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known partner of women. Whether as a beauty assistant every time you dye your hair that requires bleaching, or as an item in your family medicine cabinet to disinfect surface wounds.
Thanks to its properties and non-toxic composition, hydrogen peroxide is a great help for many household tasks. It is also economical.
Take advantage of hydrogen peroxide’s wide range of uses with the following practical guide showing some home uses.
1- Cleans toilets
Apply 1-2 times a week to remove tartar or every day (in smaller amounts) to disinfect. Pour a generous amount into the container and allow to stand. Soak for 20-30 minutes for scale and then scrub with a toilet brush. When disinfecting wait 5 minutes. Finish by flushing with clean water.
2- Removes blood stains
Especially useful for white and light-colored clothing. You can use it on other colors as long as they are not too dark. Apply this technique up to 3 times in a row, until all the dirt disappears. Pour oxygenated water directly on the stain, let it rest for 5 minutes. Then rinse with cold water.
3- Strengthens and whitens nails
Beautifies fingernails easily. Simply apply a cotton pad moistened with hydrogen peroxide.
4- Hair Lightening
Use a 50/50 mixture spray on wet hair after showering. Rinse gradually.
5- Disinfects sponges
In the kitchen the wet sponge is a permanent magnet for bacteria. In a small container it puts equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and hot water. Mix well and let the sponge soak for 15 minutes before rinsing. This will prolong its use, prevent bad smells and keep it clean.
6- Removes red wine stains
Pour on the stain a mixture with equal parts of oxygenated water and liquid detergent. Let it soak for a couple of minutes, then remove moisture with a towel. Rinse with hot water (warm in case of coloured clothes) and let it dry.
7- Disinfects the ears
Daily apply 1-2 drops to the bottom of each ear, let it effervesce 30-60 seconds. If it is left to drip, wipe it off with a cotton ball. Do not insert objects into the ear. If it does not drip and is only surface moisture, allow it to air dry. This procedure can, in addition to preventing otitis (ear infections), help prevent colds or their complications.
8- Removes stains from tiles and stone
Useful for cleaning counter tops, bathrooms, floors, walls and all hard stone tile surfaces. Make a thick mixture of hydrogen peroxide with plain flour Apply the paste on top of the stain, then place a plastic wrap over it and let it sit overnight. The next day remove it carefully.
9- Controls mold
Hydrogen peroxide is a useful alternative for removing mold from the house (walls, attics, basements). Apply a dosage mixture in spray form or directly to the mold stain with a damp towel. Don’t forget to dry thoroughly.
10- Thoroughly cleans refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher
Removes odors, removes stains and prevents fungus in the refrigerator. Apply with a towel generously moistened with hydrogen peroxide, leave to stand. Concludes by drying well. Similar procedure for microwave and dishwasher.
All of the above uses of hydrogen peroxide can be carried out using the common hydrogen peroxide you have at home (3-10%).
